I...First, thank you for taking the time to respond. I outline the rich educational heritage we use to have but question the education we now have. Most young people I communicate with and people I debate with at times make the mistake of quoting passages from the USA constitution as if it is Jamaican in origin. Present day Jamaica is submerged in the US culture and popular US culture which is a big part of the problem we face with regards to nation building. Most do not know what it should mean to be Jamaican anymore. Even the Television they watch are imported, creating people trapped in Local bodies with foreign minds. The body of young people might be trapped in Jamaica but their minds are wondering cities like New York and London because that is what they now relate to. Which is so different from when I was growing up, 98% of TV content was local and cultural content was also mostly local.inmyownwordshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09900263474744400860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3315857934060352736.post-20752605788504162322018-12-05T15:43:16.711-05:002018-12-05T15:43:16.711-05:00I beg to differ. I can assure you that most Jamaican students do not know the amendments to the American constitution in the way you are implying unless they attend some international schools or learn about it on the news. You are creating a picture as if we are so submerged in American culture that it trumps our own identity which is far from the truth. Then you explain in detail about how rich and unique our educational system is. The juxtaposition is confusing. There is a subject called Social Studies that outlines our rich Caribbean culture, our former leaders and government structure, perhaps you may have heard of it, its taught in high schools across the island. Well written article, however as a blogger is is important to be careful of your exaggerations. But, indeed this was a well thought out and put together piece. I have left the island as well and have severed almost all ties. I really have no interest in returning to a place that distressed and depressed me. Like you said only links count and I went to a no name high school.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3315857934060352736.post-2085760950957743092012-10-19T10:31:37.283-05:002012-10-19T10:31:37.283-05:00I Thank you, correction made I Thank you, correction made inmyownwordshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09900263474744400860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3315857934060352736.post-3429588472843442012012-10-19T10:00:11.617-05:002012-10-19T10:00:11.617-05:00That is the national song, not the national pledge...That is the national song, not the national pledge.
