A friend of mine recently sold his house packed up his family and furniture bought a new house in a different country and moved to that country/house, now he did not move because he hated his neighbors he did it because he wanted a bigger house, new life and better opportunities. He loved his old neighbors and will miss them dearly but sometimes “A man's got to do what a man's got to do, what he thinks his right”. I am beginning to get the impression that some people believe, that Jamaicans desire to become a republic is being done out of hate or spite for Britain or the Royal Family. Some in the media and various individuals seem more concern with creating controversy where none exist. It is no secret that the Jamaican women are in charge of the day to day running of the country. On every level of society the Jamaican woman is taking charge, this is a trend that started long ago. In schools, girls outnumber boys on almost every level, girls are more likely to achieve higher education than boys and on a daily basis more woman can be seen heading out to work than men, regardless of the type of job and more men can be seen holding their corners on the side of the road begging for handout than women. If we believed every title we'd be led to think we were reading a Zug phone book! In the States,when you apply for a job corporations now investigate your resume. Everything from your college grade point to the reasons why and when you left each employer. On top of that many will random drug test and check your financial returns. Even if you are applying for the most humble of roles. This has led to the level of accountability within the professional community. I am trying to analyze the reason why the JLP failed so miserable at the 2011 polls. For a full understanding we must return to the events of 2007.
