Jamaican Till I Die!

Do Jamaicans really want access to their own beaches? If over 5000 people can show up for one free Krispy Kreme donut and only 20 shows up to protest access to beaches, then one wonders what are the priorities of the Jamaican people. It was not because they are hungry why 5000 showed up for Krispy Kreme donut but because Krispy Kreme donut is a foreign import and they are culturally conditioned to love imports.  Progressive People, creates progressive political parties, who go on to form Progressive Governments. Progressive People then engages their Progressive Government to implement Progressive Nation Building Policies. The problem is, Jamaicans are no longer a Progressive. Jamaican are no longer Nation Builders. Nation Builder requires a certain type of people, people who are unselfish, people who put the wellbeing of the many and the future of the country before their own selfish greed. I have been following several offspring's of our rich, famous, and powerful Movers and Shakers. Historically the apple did not fall far from the tree, because offspring's normally follow in their parent’s footsteps, you know that Norman to Michael succession process. A lot of the modern-day offspring are the most useless and worthless bubbleheaded ditzy set of people floating around Jamaica.  People with big powerful last names who are supposed to be the next generations of Nation Builders, Movers and Shakers and all they do is keep up the most almshouse in life. Some spend their days and nights on social media creating Reels and TikTok rubbish. Talking about how they are social media influencers. Who the frack can you influence with the ditzy, simpleminded, bubbleheaded contents you produce?  They are the most disappointing set of Jamaicans, because they have access to massive amount of resources needed to make a difference in our society and economy. Dillsbury Avenue was one of my favorite Avenues to walk on. Apart from the fact that it provided quick access to Millsbrough Avenue, it was always a scenic and pleasant road to be on. That was because most of the single-family homes on Dillsbury were uniquely designed and sat on very large, green, and well fruited land spaces. I remember one of those yards also had horses grazing in the front. There were times during my morning walks, I would see mongoose and various wildlife’s running across the streets or in people’s yard. Dillsbury was a green Avenue full of nature with a thriving ecological system. Today, my Dillsbury Avenue is no more, destroyed in the name of simple minded, one-dimensional and generic, so-called progress due to greed. The ecological system wiped out, where nature and green spaces are removed and replaced by so-suh concrete. Happy Semi-Independence Day, as full Independence would mean the Republic of Jamaica and not the Monarchy of Jamaica, which is our official title. Semi-Independent Jamaica is 59. In the scheme of things and compared to other countries we are still in our infant stage as a country. Jamaica is a country with a lot of potentials, we could have achieved so much more as a people, if we only we were more disciplined and applied ourselves to the process of Progressive Nation Building. However, after Independence we did not think or operate as a collective, or for the greater good and in the national interest. For a while we tried the Social Engineering experiment and made some good improvements, but we abandoned Social Engineering and embraced the less unifying, “Every Man for Himself” capitalistic concept. A Facebook group I belong to posted a picture of the Half Way Tree Transport Centre and declared how progressive and modern it was. Many posters commented about how First World a building it is and it shows modern progress. It got me thinking about the concept of progressive development and how that concept has changed over time. I am not a person who thinks a big pretty building with curves is automatically modern and progress because I am not that shallow. Progressive Development is so much more than just bulldozing our green space and replacing it with some concrete and glass, in my mind that is anti-progress.
