Happy Semi-Independence Day, as full Independence would mean the Republic of Jamaica and not the Monarchy of Jamaica, which is our official title. Semi-Independent Jamaica is 59. In the scheme of things and compared to other countries we are still in our infant stage as a country. Jamaica is a country with a lot of potentials, we could have achieved so much more as a people, if we only we were more disciplined and applied ourselves to the process of Progressive Nation Building. However, after Independence we did not think or operate as a collective, or for the greater good and in the national interest. For a while we tried the Social Engineering experiment and made some good improvements, but we abandoned Social Engineering and embraced the less unifying, “Every Man for Himself” capitalistic concept. I will agree with and will help the maroons fight the Mining Companies. I will help in any way I can to defend the environment. BUT The Maroons are not Sovereign. We do not have any State within a state. We are One country, One people, One set of laws. 

Is there anything more docile and less threatening than Bending the Knee ? It is the ultimate symbol of submission, subjugation, servitude, and begging, as in when a man begs for a woman's hand in marriage. So why would this simple peaceful act of going down on one’s knee, cause so much hate and treated like violent terrorism. The way some white people are reacting to it, one would think people going down on their knees were taking their first born and raping their women. I am told that taking the knee is very divisive, but I fail to see how. In what way is a person going down on their knees threatening or divisive? The fact is, it really does not matter how Black people protest, it does not matter what we do, because everything we do seems threatening and divisive to some white people who would just rather we shut up and suffer in silence.
