Jamaica is not a powerful country on this planet, we are not the movers and shakers off this planet and we have our fair share problems being a small, developing third world country with a history of slavery, colonization, subjugation and political tribalism. Regardless of what we are, I love my country, ๐—œ ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ. I love the people from other countries who take the time out of their lives to get to know us, to understand us and to love us for who and what we are, many of whom call Jamaica home and have joined the nation building process. The objectivity of ๐’๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ ๐‰๐š๐ง๐ž influenced how i express myself, the nation building spirit of  Londinium ๐„๐ฆ๐ฆ๐š ๐‹๐ž๐ฐ๐ข๐ฌ fascinates me, I am in awe at her constant drive for change and progress in her adopted country. Is Who Mash Up Jamaica? ... IT WASN'T ME!!

It is clear that EmanciPendence is not a time for celebration, it is not a time to celebrate great milestones in history and bask in our greatness but a time for expressing great shame and throw blame. Not too long ago I posted a response on the Gleaner Facebook site declaring that every single Jamaican regardless of Geographic location, regardless of age and gender was responsible for the Social and Economic problems, condition and state of Jamaica. As a result of posting this I was bombarded with several responses from people declaring that they had nothing to do with what was and is happening in Jamaica. They had nothing to do with the condition of the country and the state of our society and economy. These people were not only declaring their innocence but started identifying individuals and entities who they consider was the real guilty culprits, the people who should be taken round back, placed against the wall and shot dead. One person declared it was the Ruling class, ...

"By Eloquence, Inc." ...The Advantages of being Jamaican

Image
Eloquence, Inc. is a regular reader of “Jamaican Till I Die” and makes some of the best comments on various issues. I especially love her comment on the blog "You Ungrateful Wretch! "   and think it should be a separate blog post for all to see and I would like to thank "Eloquence, Inc." for all the comments since I started this: In response to: "You Ungrateful Wretch!" EXCELLENT POST and PERFECT timing as we come to the end of Jamaica's 50th anniversary! Add the Issa's and the Simonitsch's (founder of Half Moon and the all inclusive resort concept) to that list of big names! No matter how long I have been away, I know if I could sort out a decent career opportunity down there, I would love to move back home. I am not one of the ones that ever thought anything as a child but that the sun rises and sets on Jamaica... Didn't even want to leave, parents made me. But I realize as I run into Jamaicans from other walks of life, that m...

A Jamaican Farm for the Future

Image
When I was young my uncles use to call be both "infahma" (informer) and farmer:   I would tell my grandmother on my uncles every time I see them doing something they should not be doing, so "infahma" in Jamaican Patios was informer and At an early age I developed a love for farming, a loved for the soil. (farma)  My grandmother did not let the small plot of land around her house go to waste. She could not afford to and so she utilized as much of the land as she could to grow food and I was there every step of the way to help her. At the center of our farming world was the chickens and it was my job to make sure the chicken coop was cleaned, chickens watered, fed, eggs collected and fighting birds kept apart. This was a job I did with pride, except on one occasion when one of the hens laid her eggs under the house. It was my job to go under the house and collect these eggs but on that day both the hen and the roaster did not want that to happen. The hen ...
