I often wonder what would be required for a person to feel Happy and Content. I know what makes one person happy and content, may not make another person happy and content. We might all live in the same country or on the same street or even in the same house, but we all have different life experiences, or we can interpret the same life experiences differently. For the most part our society conditioned us to believe that access to a continuous stream of increasing wealth and material goods is what is needed for a person to be happy and content. Children are being conditioned to equate material things with love. For example, some might think that they are loved, if their parents buy them the new iPhone and without it life is not worth living.   What I realized is that this conditioning is often the main source of our misery and unhappiness. SO funny, listening and reading post from Diehard-Diehearted supporters of both political parties, debating with each other about who is more corrupt. Most Jamaicans are not offended by corruption, these people have no principled stance on corruption. What they are offended by, is corruption that was carried out by the party they do not support. Corruption is only real if it is done by the party they do not support else it is an oversight, a mistake to be ignored. Each diehard-dieheart supporter can list in great details each and every corrupt events that was carried out by the opposing party, even quantifying and qualifying the level of corruption if need be. Sometime ago I worked for a financial company and one night at around 3 AM the operations department encountered a problem with one of the applications. They followed procedure and called the software developer on duty to investigate. He logged into the system and proceeded to analyze and debug the application. Sometime after he identified the cause of the problem but then decided to fix it in production. Even though there was a company wide rule that strictly forbids developers from making changes to production code, in the production environment, without the approval of upper management. The problem was relatively minor, so he fixed it and went back to bed. I am sure feeling very proud of himself, basking in his brilliance. Probably thinking, what would they do without him? I can understand a person being outrage out of principle but I dislike when people have selective outrage based purely on political bias. The outrage that manifest itself because one party did something wrong should be the same outrage expressed when the party you support is also guilty of the same crime. You cannot defend almshouse when it is being done by your party but is outrage over the same almshouse when the other party does it, which is just pure hypocrisy and almshouse. One thing I pride myself on is the fact that I am governed by a certain set of core principles that are guided by a well established ideology. I do not adjusted my principles or ideology to match the views of any political party, I am not blinded by some form of partisan  or “diehardism”...
