Local Jamaican Contractors Like Thieves in the Temple

Image
Local Jamaican contractors were upset that the major contracts are going to China and not to them. This is what happens when you throw them a bone and give them a contract. They continue to do to us what they have always done, Rape and Pillage the Jamaican Society with their never-ending contract extensions for shoddy work, as they milk and breed the Taxpayers. They are consumed by greed, selfishness, self-importance and a complete disregard for human decency.  China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) will complete the St. Thomas Highway long before these thieves complete this small piece of road and it will cost more that the entire St. Thomas highway system when they are done extending and prolonging the work. They all should be arrested and charged with corruption and robbery. Who can forget the Christiana's bypass to Heaven? $800-million price tag for two lanes of a SINGLE kilometre of road. This price, we are told, did not include the cost of land already purchased or t...

Jamaica's Lack of Good Leadership and High Crime Rate

Image
The real problem facing Jamaica is a lack of good leadership. In fact, our leaders are the major contributors to our dysfunctional state as a nation. Even our current crime epidemic can be traced back to the selfish and greedy actions of our leaders. These so-called leaders will do and say anything, to satisfy their selfish need for power and that cannot be good for Nation Building because Nation Building is not about Political power. Nation Building is about progressive Empowerment of a people. I get nothing from our leaders, they do not fill me with hope or pride because they bring nothing of value to the table. It does not matter if these leaders are young, old, man or woman or educated, the result is always the same, the cycle of dysfunctional behavior continues. If the water in the well is dirty, then every bucket of water taken from that well, will also be dirty.   Our leaders lack the basic concept and understanding of Nation Building. They lack Imagination, Innovation ...

Sickle Cell Anemia - Inherited Red Blood Cell Disorder

Image
I do not remember how old I was when I experienced my first Sickle Cell Crisis. I know I was very young and somewhere between 6 and 9 when I first became aware that something was wrong. By that time I was living with my grandmother on my mother’s side. She had no idea what was wrong with me and concluded that the reason why my arm was hurting me, was because my dead mothers’ ghost was holding on to my arm, trying to take me to the grave with her. As such my grandmother implemented a plan to deal with this Supernatural Event. Back then in Jamaica, not much was known about Sickle Cell. In fact, we did not know that such a thing existed. My Grandmother was a victim of her situation and upbringing, she could only react the way she did. My early treatment for Sickle Cell Crisis involved Christian praying, a key said to be blessed by Oral Roberts and Hogwarts like Dark Magic of Obeah. I cannot remember ever taking a pain medication while living with my Grandmother on my mother’s side. To tre...
